Kavas Tacos and Tequila Opens in Orlando
Kavas Tacos and Tequila, a new Mexican restaurant located at Pointe Orlando, is set to bring a whole new energy to Orlando's food scene. Owned by Katerina and Vassilis Coumbaros, the restaurant offers a modern Mexican concept that promises to delight and excite guests.
Katerina and Vassilis are no strangers to the Orlando food scene, as they already own two successful restaurants, Taverna Opa Orlando and Tapa Toro. This latest venture, Kavas Tacos and Tequila, is a perfect representation of locally owned businesses in Orlando.
The grand opening of Kavas Tacos and Tequila falls on Cinco de Mayo 2023, which is a special day for Mexican-Americans and is celebrated annually. The Orlando Life team was present at the VIP opening and got to experience a variety of tequila cocktails, food, fire dancing, a mariachi band, animals, and so much more.

What does Kavas mean?
The name Kavas is derived from the owners' names, Katerina and Vassilis, and the restaurant is a beautifully-designed space with an expansive bar, brunch, live fire shows, and dog-friendly patios. The restaurant boasts 7,000 square feet, including four event spaces and two patios, perfect for weekend brunch.
The Menu
Kavas Tacos and Tequila's menu offers Tex-Mex classics and playful takes on Mexican street fare inspired by the ambulantes (street food vendors) of Mexico City. Guests can indulge in a range of dishes, from chill bar dishes like Shrimp Coctel and Ceviche to antojitos like Classic Street Corn and Black Bean Empañadas. They can also dip into Classic Guacamole and Queso Fundido followed by plentiful fajita options like Surf & Turf and main plates including Mezcal Mango Salmon and Chimichangas. The restaurant also offers a show-stopping 3-Foot Taco Board that includes a guest's choice of 12 tacos, vegan and vegetarian options, and sweets, including Coconut Tres Leches, Cookies + Horchata, and Flaming S’mores Taco.

The bar features a wide selection of imported and local wines and liquor, including more than 150 tequilas. Specialty cocktails and mocktails like the Un Poco Coco and Saint Kavas are sure to please any guest.
Kavas Tacos and Tequila's interior is inspired by the vibrancy and colors of Mexico City, using authentic Mexican fabrics, alebrijes, and cacti to furnish the restaurant. The interior was designed by local Orlando firm, Tina Marie Interior Design.
Private Dining and Events
Multiple private dining rooms and event spaces, named after Mexicana legends like Frida Kahlo and Selena, are available for large parties and meetings. Catering for all occasions and take-out are also available.
