The Orlando community is full of incredible people who use their passions and gifts to make a difference in other people’s lives. This month we’re grateful for all of you who came together for our toy drive and holiday wine fundraiser, to support the needs of the homeless community, and the efforts that Scott Billue and Matthew’s Hope provide.
The Orlando Life is a proud supporter of Matthew’s Hope, a local organization founded by Scott Billue, that has been committed to helping the homeless for the last 12 years, build a life of dignity and sustainability.
Their program offers a hand up to anyone who’s living on the street and ready to change their situation. From housing, medical, jobs, counseling, and much more, Matthew’s Hope has been transforming lives in a way that no other organization has, that we’ve seen.
Each year Matthew’s Hope holds a Community Christmas Carnival where the homeless, families who are at-risk, and the local community come together for games, food and fun. This year, we collected two truck loads of toys from our drop-off location at Windermere Preparatory School
On December 7, The Orlando Life held a holiday wine fundraiser at The Vineyard Orlando. Deb Linden, owner of the Vineyard, put together a select menu of food, wine and beer and included a few raffle prizes guests could bid on; a portion of the proceeds from every purchase went towards Matthew’s Hope. ($2 for every glass, 10% of food, 100% of the raffle). Within 3 hours, we raised $2500!
