Taps and Transformations: Orlando Breweries Embrace Growth and Change

Several Orlando-area breweries have announced updates and expansions, including new locations, ownership changes, and community investment opportunities.

Sanford Brewing Company was nearing closure in October of 2024 when the owner of Brewlando, Shara Pathak, stepped in to purchase the company. Pathak plans to reopen the two Sanford Brewing locations as soon as possible. Pathak intends to retain as much of the original staff as possible while focusing on brewing high-quality beer and providing excellent customer service.

Crooked Can Brewing Co., the busiest taproom in Florida, has opened a 526 square-foot addition to its Winter Garden location. This expansion includes a walk-up bar window and a fenced patio area intended to accommodate groups of 50-85 people. The addition was constructed by Prestige Contracting Co., a local company with a history at Plant Street Market. Crooked Can Managing Partner Alan Delahunt has also announced plans for a new food hall, taproom, and brewery in Minneola.

Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. has announced a crowdfunding campaign through StartEngine that will allow fans to invest in the company. The company hopes to raise money to increase production, expand distribution, and improve facilities and events. The company acquired the now-defunct Deadwords Brewing and already has two locations.

Gatlin Hall Brewing has closed for a remodel and will reopen in November 2024 as Runabout Brewing Kitchen and Raw Bar. New owner Eric Crotty, who originally built the Gatlin Hall facility, has partnered with Kevin O’Donnell, Mike Brady, and Gary Chapdelaine to rebrand the brewery. Runabout will be a full-service restaurant and raw bar with a menu that includes Southern comfort food and pizzas. Crotty cites the previous owners’ unsuccessful food hall concept and understaffing as reasons for their failure. The new owners have renovated the space and made significant changes, including lightening the décor, adding a raw bar, and putting in a display case for oysters.
